Pakistan raises prices of petrol and diesel
In Pakistan, the government has increased the price of petrol by 4.42 rupees per litre and high-speed diesel by 6.10 rupees. After the revision, petrol will cost 380.24 rupees per litre and diesel 409.42 rupees. The new prices will take effect on September 15, Dawn reports.
Taxes and levies
According to a statement by the Petroleum Division, the authorities will continue to collect 114 rupees in taxes and levies from every litre of petrol and 100 rupees from each litre of diesel fuel.
The price of high-speed diesel had previously reached 520.35 rupees per litre on April 3. The price of petrol that day reached 458.41 rupees per litre. Before that, diesel prices began rising from 281 rupees per litre after the war between the United States and Iran began on February 28, while petrol rose from 266 rupees per litre in the first week of March.

Benefits for small vehicles
On September 13, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a support program for owners of motorcycles, auto-rickshaws and cars with engines of up to 800 cubic centimetres. Owners of two- and three-wheeled vehicles were granted a benefit of 100 rupees per litre within a monthly quota of 20 litres, while owners of small cars will receive the same benefit for 30 litres per month.
In July, Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said that fuel prices would be set daily in accordance with international market trends. According to him, the government decided to transfer authority for the daily determination of fuel prices to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.
Petrol in the country is mainly used by private transport, small cars, auto-rickshaws and motorcycles. Diesel fuel is used in heavy transport, at power plants and in large generators.
