China introduces import tax incentives for science and technology popularization goods

The Ministry of Finance of China, together with the General Administration of Customs and the State Administration of Taxation, announced import tax incentives aimed at fostering the development and popularization of science and technology. This is a significant step to support science and technology museums and natural history museums, which will benefit from these concessions.

The incentives cover popular science films, video materials, and equipment that are not produced domestically or for which local alternatives do not meet required standards. This tax policy will be effective until December 31, 2030, exempting imports from customs duties and value-added tax.

This initiative is expected to boost scientific education and innovation outreach while supporting sectors that rely on advanced imported technology.
