Chinese ICBC leads global bank brand rankings for tenth consecutive year

According to the annual Brand Finance Banking 500 report for 2026, the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) remains the world’s most valuable bank brand for the tenth year running. In 2026, ICBC’s brand value increased by 15% to $90.9 billion, securing its top position in the global ranking.

China Construction Bank took second place, with a decrease in brand value of 1.5% to $77.2 billion. Bank of China rose to third place after boosting its brand value by nearly 11% to $70.8 billion, surpassing Agricultural Bank of China, which fell to fourth place as its brand value declined by 10.5% to $62.8 billion. The fifth to ninth spots were occupied by US banks—Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan, and Citi. UK-based HSBC climbed from eleventh to tenth place.

This ranking highlights the growing influence of Chinese banks in the global financial sector and illustrates shifting dynamics among leading bank brands worldwide, signaling potential impacts on competition and innovation in the industry.
