Nvidia may invest up to $10 billion in Anthropic’s IPO — Taipei Times

In the United States, Anthropic is in talks to bring Nvidia in as an anchor investor in an initial public offering that could become the largest IPO in history. The developer of the Claude AI model aims to raise up to $100 billion, while its valuation in the offering could reach about $2 trillion, Taipei Times reports, citing two people familiar with the matter.

According to one source, Nvidia is considering investing up to $10 billion in Anthropic’s IPO. The talks are still ongoing, and their terms may change. Anthropic declined to comment, while Nvidia did not promptly respond to journalists’ request.

Computing partnership

Nvidia’s participation could provide Anthropic with a strategic investor before it goes public and strengthen ties between the chipmaker and one of its major customers. Anthropic makes extensive use of Nvidia chips while seeking to diversify chip suppliers amid growing demand for Claude and limited computing capacity.

In November last year, Nvidia said it intended to invest up to $10 billion in the AI startup as part of a broader partnership. At that time, Anthropic committed to purchase $30 billion in Microsoft Azure computing capacity powered by Nvidia chips.

Growth in Anthropic’s valuation

The company is also building its own team to develop specialized chips tailored for Claude, seeking to strengthen control over hardware costs. The offering is expected to be completed before the U.S. midterm elections in November.

In May, Anthropic raised $65 billion at a post-investment valuation of $965 billion. The company said that by the end of July, its annualized revenue run rate had exceeded $65 billion, compared with about $9 billion at the end of the previous year. According to Reuters, the potential valuation also partly depends on the company’s revenue forecast of $190–200 billion in 2028.
