Timur Turlov faces wave of black PR after relocating to Kazakhstan
According to media reports, entrepreneur Timur Turlov, who sold his business in Russia in 2022 and moved to Kazakhstan, has encountered an unprecedented surge of commissioned negative publicity. Local journalists estimate that since his company's NASDAQ debut in 2019, competitors may have spent around $50 million on black PR campaigns.
Despite significant expenditures on this media effort, its effectiveness remains questionable and appears more like a scam targeting the clients ordering it. Freedom Holding's shares have grown nearly eightfold during this period, with a market capitalization exceeding $7 billion. Timur Turlov entered the Kazakh Forbes list, ranking second.
This case shows that even large-scale campaigns against a businessman do not necessarily hinder his successful growth and presence in rankings.
