More than 39,000 bottles of Clear Eyes eye drops recalled in the US
In the United States, 39,060 bottles of Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief eye drops have been voluntarily recalled due to the lack of confirmation of the product’s sterility. According to The Guardian World, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported possible contamination of the product.
Which products are subject to the recall
The recall concerns 15 ml bottles with lot code 2552A and an expiration date of September 30, 2027. Prestige Brand Holdings, based in Tarrytown, New York, voluntarily recalled this batch, according to the FDA report.
The products were distributed by Medtech Products Inc, a company owned by Prestige Consumer Healthcare. Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief is marketed as drops with astringent and lubricating effects, intended to relieve redness, itching, burning, and tearing.
The drops were sold, among other places, at Walmart, Target, Kroger, Giant Eagle, Meijer, Dollar General, and Family Dollar.

In 2023, the FDA recalled EzriCare Artificial Tears after they were linked to an outbreak caused by the drug-resistant bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. According to the source, that outbreak may have been linked to one death and injuries in 68 other people; a small number of those affected had to have the affected eye surgically removed.
