WHO warns: Vaping fuels a new global wave of nicotine addiction

The World Health Organization has warned that around 15 million children globally are now using e-cigarettes, accusing the tobacco industry of promoting new products and technologies to sustain nicotine addiction among younger generations.

While traditional smoking rates have declined, vaping and nicotine pouches are creating a new wave of dependency. WHO officials caution that these products, marketed as “harm reduction,” are in fact hooking young users on nicotine and reversing decades of progress in tobacco control.

The agency urged governments to tighten regulations, raise taxes, and ban advertising of tobacco and vaping products. Despite strict laws in many countries, WHO reports there is not a single nation where children remain untouched by the growing e-cigarette trend.
