More than 12 million commercial vehicles in China are equipped with the BeiDou satellite navigation system. High-precision navigation with lane-level positioning covers more than 99% of the country’s urban and rural roads, ECNS reports.

Applications of the system

Li Chao, spokesperson for China’s National Development and Reform Commission, announced these figures at a press conference in Beijing. According to him, BeiDou is becoming an important driver of industrial growth as its use expands from transportation to agriculture, fishing and other sectors.

BeiDou-based products are also used in agricultural machinery, drones, fishing vessels, smartphones, electric vehicles, public bicycles and wearable devices. They are already available in more than 140 countries and regions.

Industry indicators

The output value of China’s BeiDou industry exceeded 629 billion yuan, or $87.9 billion, in 2025. More than 30,000 enterprises and institutions operate in the sector, employing over 2 million people.

Li Chao said that China intends to expand the system’s use and its international development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. According to him, the industry’s output value is expected to exceed 1 trillion yuan within five years.
