Amazon hopes to replace 600,000 American workers with robots

Amazon plans to replace more than 600,000 jobs in the US with robots to avoid having to hire new employees by 2033. According to recently leaked documents, the company aims to automate 75% of its operations. It is expected that 160,000 jobs will be cut by 2027, reducing the cost of goods by 30 cents per unit. Overall, automation promises to save Amazon $12.6 billion between 2025 and 2027.

Economic experts warn that if Amazon achieves its automation goals, the company will become a “job destroyer” rather than a job creator, which could have serious consequences for the US labor market.
