Cathay Pacific hikes fuel surcharge by 105% from March 18 amid rising fuel costs

One of China’s largest airlines, Cathay Pacific, is raising its fuel surcharge by 105% on all flights starting March 18. For long-haul flights, the surcharge will increase to $300. This measure responds to the significant rise in fuel prices and is likely to affect ticket costs for passengers.

In addition, airports are facing serious operational challenges. Dubai Airport is losing $1.5 million every minute due to disruptions, totaling $90 million per hour or $2.16 billion per day — exceeding the GDP of some countries.

In the near future, other airlines are expected to follow suit with increased fuel surcharges, while ongoing airport issues may disrupt flight schedules and increase travel costs.
