The only Gucci boutique in Poland has closed: Chanel will open in its place
The only Gucci boutique in Poland, located in Warsaw's Vitkac department store, has closed, and preparations are underway to open a new Chanel store in its place.
This was reported by UA News.
The Gucci logo has already disappeared from the facade of the building at 9 Bracka Street, and the darkened, empty premises confirm the end of the Italian brand's operations at this location.
The Gucci boutique in Vitkac had been operating since the shopping centre opened in November 2011 and was the brand's only full-fledged salon in Poland.
It occupied two levels — -1 and 0 — and operated as a franchise, i.e. it was managed by a local operator rather than directly by Gucci headquarters.
This model is typical for relatively small markets, where global fashion houses shift a significant portion of their costs and risks to local partners.
The closure of the Warsaw boutique comes amid a difficult period for the Gucci brand, which is experiencing a decline in sales and a review of its global strategy.
According to the Kering group, which owns the brand, Gucci's revenue in 2025 was around €6 billion, with sales down approximately 22% year-on-year, marking another consecutive year of decline.
Rafal Reif, president of Reif Fashion, believes that the decision to leave Poland is consistent with the logic of reducing presence in secondary markets.
Chanel is set to replace Gucci at Vitkac, signalling a reshuffle in the placement of global luxury brands in Warsaw.
For shoppers, this will mean a shift in focus from Italian fashion houses to French ones, but at the same time, Vitkac will retain its status as a key destination for premium shopping in Poland.
While Gucci is likely to focus on online sales and distribution through selected premium platforms, Chanel can strengthen its presence among wealthy customers in the region by opening a physical space.
As a reminder, McDonald's in Mykolaiv is officially closed.
In addition, footballer Zinchenko's restaurant in Kyiv has closed.
