How Prices for Goods in Ukraine Could Rise Due to Destroyed Warehouses

Massive strikes on warehouse facilities in Kyiv and the surrounding region will lead to a significant restructuring of logistics chains and higher prices for end consumers. Market experts reported this in comments to LIGA.net.

According to Anna Anisimova, commercial director of GDS, the loss of infrastructure will reduce trade volume, and small and medium-sized businesses will be forced to either scale back their operations or merge with retail giants. Total losses in Ukraine’s logistics market during the war have exceeded 1 million square meters, and losses in Kyiv’s professional logistics sector for 2026 alone are estimated at $250 million (approximately $400 million over more than four years of war).

Oleksandr Parashchiy, head of the analytics department at Concorde Capital, noted that the restructuring of processes will cause temporary disruptions in supply. Oleksandr Bondarenko, founder of the Bureau of Investment Programs, predicts a possible shortage of goods on marketplaces and in stores, as well as a 15–20% increase in prices over the coming months, as manufacturers pass on their losses and new logistics costs to consumers.

The “Silpo” and “Fora” supermarket chains, which are part of the Fozzy Group, have experienced temporary disruptions in the supply of goods following the Russian strike on warehouse and logistics infrastructure in the Kyiv region on August 5.

The State Property Fund of Ukraine has already begun inspecting the warehouse facilities of state-owned enterprises to identify space for companies that have lost their logistics facilities due to Russian attacks. Preliminary estimates suggest several hundred thousand square meters, but the actual amount that can be made available to businesses will become clear after on-site inspections.
