The Novus chain is opening its first stores in two regional capitals
The Novus supermarket chain has received official approval from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine to lease three commercial properties from the Eurotek Group, which recently announced the closure of its retail brands.
This agreement marks the Lithuanian chain’s first entry into the market of major cities in western Ukraine. The opening of two supermarkets in Lviv is scheduled for August on Zelena Street and Chervona Kalina Avenue, while the launch of a store in Ivano-Frankivsk on Mykolaychuk Street will take place in September.
The new stores will have a large sales area and will be equipped with modern checkout areas featuring linear registers and self-service terminals to speed up the checkout process for customers. Previously, the “Eurotek” group completely shut down its grocery chains “Fresh,” “Arsen,” “Soyuz,” and “Kvartal,” after which Silpo-Food acquired the rights to purchase five other former “Arsen” stores in May. By the end of June 2026, Novus—a company growing thanks to Lithuanian investment from BT Invest under the leadership of Raimondas Tumenas—had 173 locations in Ukraine, and its annual revenue for 2025 grew by nearly 20% to 34.69 billion hryvnias.
This was reported by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, citing the grocery retailer’s press service.
Four supermarket chains are closing in Ukraine at once.
Ukrainian shoppers have started spending less time at shopping malls and have shifted their priorities.
