The number of non-bank financial institutions in Ukraine declined in July
The number of participants in Ukraine’s non-bank financial market decreased by 11 institutions in July 2026, bringing the total to 727. At the same time, the number of banking institutions remained unchanged over the month.
During July, the NBU revoked all licenses held by one insurer at the company’s request. Six other financial companies and two non-life insurers had their licenses revoked. The regulator denied a license application to one credit union.
In addition, six financial companies and two non-life insurers were forcibly removed from the relevant registries. Another insurance company was removed from the registry at its own request.
As of August 1, 2026, there were 383 financial companies, 44 non-life insurers, 10 life insurers, 96 pawnshops, and 79 credit unions operating in the market.
In addition, there were 72 debt collection agencies, 41 insurance brokers, and one lessor operating in Ukraine.
The number of non-bank financial groups, on the other hand, increased over the month—from 39 to 40.
The payment market currently includes 15 payment institutions, 11 financial institutions authorized to provide payment services, one bank that issues electronic money, and one postal operator.
