Ukraine is introducing a requirement to provide the IMEI number when importing cell phones
The Ministry of Finance has signed, and the Ministry of Justice has registered, an order requiring the mandatory inclusion of unique IMEI numbers for mobile phones in customs declarations upon import.
According to the ministry’s estimates, this step will put an end to gray-market imports and smuggling of electronics, generating over 5 billion hryvnia in additional revenue for the state budget each year. The next step is to require the inclusion of IMEI numbers on fiscal receipts.
