The cost of making homemade Easter bread has risen by 12.2% over the past year

The cost of baking three to four Easter cakes using a traditional recipe in the days leading up to Easter amounted to 357.2 UAH.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club in a report dated April 6, 2026. The main factor behind the price increase was the rise in prices for egg and dairy ingredients; specifically, eggs rose in price by 13% over the year, and butter by 13.1%.

Among baking ingredients, raisins saw the largest price increase (+27%); however, the overall cost was kept in check by a 12.6% decrease in the price of sugar and a 26.8% decrease in the price of vanillin. A full Easter basket with wine and vegetables currently costs 1,387 UAH, which is 17% more expensive than last year due to high costs for greenhouses and logistics. The meat market remains relatively stable, though lard prices have risen by 15% year-over-year. While Russia continues to destroy Ukrainian infrastructure, farmers are reporting a seasonal increase in milk production, which should stabilize prices for dairy products with a short shelf life.

Potatoes and tomatoes have become more expensive in Ukraine, with prices rising further over the past week.

The Ministry of Economy assures that there is no shortage of goods or panic buying in stores.

The State Statistics Service has released data on food prices in December: what has become more expensive and what has become cheaper.

As a reminder, prices in Ukraine have been falling for the second month in a row.

It will also become more expensive to assemble a PC in 2026.
