YouTube agreed to pay $24.5 million to former President Donald Trump over the suspension of his account following the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. The lawsuit, filed in October 2021, accused the platform and other social media companies of unlawful censorship.

According to court documents, $22 million of the settlement will go directly to Trump, while the remaining $2.5 million will be shared among other plaintiffs, including writer Naomi Wolf and the American Conservative Union. YouTube declined to comment.

The settlement marks another major move by tech companies to end costly legal battles with Trump. Similar payouts have already been made by Meta, X (Twitter), Paramount, and ABC News, underscoring his broader success in challenging social media censorship.
