EgyptAir plans direct flights between Cairo and Singapore from early 2027

Egyptian airline EgyptAir plans to launch a new Cairo (Egypt) — Singapore — Sydney service from early 2027. The proposed service is subject to regulatory approvals. For passengers from Singapore, it could become the first direct air connection with Cairo.

Planned route

EgyptAir, Changi Airport Group and Sydney Airport announced the plans on September 10. As Channel NewsAsia reports, passengers will be able to travel between Cairo, Singapore and Sydney under the new proposed service.

EgyptAir plans to operate the flights using Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The launch of the route is part of the carrier's plans to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific market.

Connections through the EgyptAir network

The new route is also expected to give passengers from Singapore access to onward connections through the EgyptAir network to countries in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. According to a joint press release by the three parties, in 2025 Egypt was the largest African market without direct air links to both Singapore and Australia in terms of the number of travelers between these destinations.

Currently, passengers flying from Singapore to Egypt usually have at least one stopover, for example in Bahrain, Dubai or Doha. EgyptAir plans to announce flight schedules and fares later.
