Asia-Pacific region's positions
Nine cities in the top 20 represent the Asia-Pacific region. The report noted the region's progress in simplifying visa procedures, air connectivity, digital services, safety management and the development of cultural consumption.
Hangzhou and Chengdu also entered the top 20. China had the largest number of cities on the list. The report's authors indicated that global tourism competition is increasingly moving away from the traditional model focused on Europe and the United States, encompassing more regions and cities of different sizes.
The conference was held as part of the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services and brought together more than 400 participants from over 50 countries and regions.
