Joseph TLV hotel in Tel Aviv resumes regular operations — Jerusalem Post

The boutique Joseph Hotel TLV in Tel Aviv, Israel, has resumed its regular reception of guests after housing evacuees from Kiryat Shmona for two and a half years. This was reported by the Jerusalem Post in an article about the hotel.

The establishment is located on the outskirts of Jaffa, near the light rail station by Bloomfield Stadium. The hotel has 19 rooms. The Jaffa flea market, the clock tower and a beach across the road from the building are also nearby.

Accommodation for evacuees

According to one of the hotel’s co-owners, Zvi Dahan, Joseph Hotel TLV opened shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic but was soon forced to suspend operations. After October 7, the hotel took in evacuated residents of Kiryat Shmona.

Dahan said that some residents wanted to work despite state compensation for being unable to do so. One evacuee worked as a night receptionist, another prepared breakfasts, and another was responsible for security.

The co-owner also said that he began coming to the hotel with his family for Shabbat when he saw guests taking catered Friday dinners to their rooms. According to him, the hotel received a special award for its work with evacuees.

Guests and prices

After the evacuees returned home, several of them decided to settle in Tel Aviv and continued working at the hotel. Previously, about half of the customers were tourists, while the rest were Israelis who came mainly for weekends. Now, according to Dahan, the number of tourists has decreased, so the hotel is often nearly empty on weekdays.

The price of a room on weekdays starts at less than 600 Israeli shekels per night, and children stay free of charge. The author of the Jerusalem Post article noted that he visited the hotel as its guest.
