China’s new Century Dream cruise ship sets off on maiden voyage — ECNS

In Chongqing, China, the new river cruise ship Century Dream set off on its maiden voyage from the Chaotianmen pier on September 21. Operated by Century Cruises, the vessel will serve the route between Chongqing and Yichang through the Three Gorges area on the Yangtze River, ECNS reports.

Vessel specifications

Century Dream is 149.99 meters long and 21.2 meters wide. The 15,000-ton vessel has seven decks and 236 guest cabins and can carry up to 650 passengers.

The vessel was designed and is operated by Chongqing Guanda Century Cruise Co., Ltd., which operates under the Century Cruises brand. Recreational areas and an immersive stage for NPC performances have been set up on board.

Menu and other routes

For restaurant service, the company invited chefs it describes as six-star chefs. The menu includes 50 dishes combining Austrian, German, Italian, Japanese and Southeast Asian cuisines with flavors from Hong Kong, China, and the Sichuan-Chongqing region.

Luo Zhongyi, director of the Chongqing Shipping Exchange, said that the 100,000th foreign tourist to take a Yangtze cruise in 2026 was welcomed aboard Century Dream. The visitor arrived from Germany.

On the same day, the “International Salon of Civilizations of Great Rivers,” jointly created by the Chongqing Yangtze Culture Research Institute and Century Cruises, was opened. In August, another company vessel, Century Star, completed its first Rhine cruise in Europe. Century Cruises is also building several new cruise ships for operations on the Nile.
