Ukraine and Germany have resumed intergovernmental consultations for the first time since 2004
Ukrainian-German intergovernmental consultations took place in Berlin on April 14—the first in over 20 years.
This was reported by the Office of the President.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz participated in the talks, along with members of both countries’ governments.
The parties discussed further defense cooperation, energy, and support for Ukrainians, as well as plans for new joint projects.
Special attention was given to a potential bilateral agreement on drones.

Merz reaffirmed support for Ukraine’s European integration and the opening of negotiation clusters, and emphasized the need to remove obstacles along this path.
Previous such consultations between Ukraine and Germany were held in 2004.
The German government will also fund Ukraine’s contract with the American company Raytheon for the production of several hundred anti-aircraft missiles for Patriot systems.
Ukraine and a number of other countries have officially joined the sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russian entities last month.
