Zelenskyy and Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze met for the first time since the war began

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on the sidelines of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan. This is their first meeting since the start of the full-scale war.

This was reported by the Georgian Government Administration.

According to the Georgian side, the talks took place at Ukraine’s initiative. The parties discussed bilateral relations, and the foreign ministers of both countries also participated in the meeting.

During a brief exchange, Zelenskyy, shaking Kobakhidze’s hand, said, “See you soon.”

At the same time, it is worth recalling that in 2024, Zelenskyy imposed sanctions against the Georgian leadership. The list included, in particular, Irakli Kobakhidze and the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili.

At the time, the Ukrainian president explained this decision by the need to counter a policy that, in his words, brings Georgia closer to Moscow’s influence, emphasizing the importance of common security in the region.

Georgia summonedthe EU ambassador over a statement about “dark times.”

In 2025, Georgia granted citizenship to over 2,000 applicants, most of whom were from Russia.
