Argentine fans are demanding a rematch of the World Cup final

Argentine fans have collected more than 60,000 signatures on a Change.org petition demanding that the result of the decisive match be overturned and that the World Cup final be replayed.

The petition was initiated by Argentine fan Gisela Sánchez, who cited the officiating of Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić as the main reason for her dissatisfaction. At the same time, the petition’s author did not provide specific examples of refereeing errors, calling on FIFA to independently analyze the referee’s performance during the match.

Refereeing experts gave Vinčić a positive evaluation and emphasized that the Slovenian referee showed leniency toward Argentine players despite their rough fouls. Experts stress that the chance of a rematch is virtually nonexistent, as there are no similar precedents in modern soccer, and a similar petition following the France–Spain semifinal was also not considered.
