Spain's victory at the 2026 World Cup will boost the country's economy by more than €4 billion

If the Spanish national team wins the 2026 World Cup after defeating Argentina, it will have a significant positive impact on the country’s economy. 

According to estimates by financial analysts, the additional GDP growth over the next two quarters could reach about 4 billion euros, representing approximately 0.48 percentage points. The main economic boost will come from increased international interest in the country, which, according to statistics from previous tournaments, contributes to a 5–6% increase in exports of goods and services.

In addition, the Royal Spanish Football Federation will receive a record $50 million in prize money from FIFA, part of which will flow into the state budget in the form of taxes. A surge in local consumption was also recorded during the tournament: the number of transactions at restaurants and bars rose by an average of 36%, and in some cities, by as much as 66%. However, economists caution against overestimating the impact of this sporting success, noting that it cannot solve the deep-rooted structural problems of the Spanish economy.
