A former opponent of a Ukrainian boxer will stand trial for a traffic accident involving police and cocaine

Former British and Commonwealth champion, 30-year-old light heavyweight boxer Lewis Edmondson, is facing charges of dangerous driving and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

According to The Sun, during a police chase, the Range Rover SUV driven by the athlete rammed two cars, one of which belonged to law enforcement. More than 120 grams of cocaine were found inside the vehicle. The incident occurred back in August 2021.

Lewis Edmondson has since been released on bail and is required to appear in court; the trial is set to begin next month. Last year, the British boxer lost by decision to Ukrainian Daniel Lapin, and last month he won the WBA international title.
