Dynamo has extended its contract with Matviy Ponomarenko, the UPL's leading scorer

Kyiv's Dynamo has officially signed a new five-year contract with 20-year-old forward Matviy Ponomarenko. The Ukraine national team forward will continue to play for his home club, where he previously became the top scorer in the Ukrainian Premier League.

The 19-year-old forward has signed a new long-term contract with his home club. The player’s contract with the Kyiv-based team is for five years.

Matviy Ponomarenko has been part of the capital city club’s youth system since he was seven years old. Thanks to his high scoring output at the youth level, the forward made his debut with the senior team and secured a spot in the starting lineup last season.

The forward has firmly established himself among the elite of Ukrainian soccer, winning two individual awards at the end of the season: top scorer of the UPL and the league’s best young player.

His standout performances on the domestic stage paved the way for Matviy to join the Ukrainian national team. The player received his first call-up to the “blue-and-yellows” camp and has already scored a crucial goal in the 2026 World Cup qualifying playoff match against Sweden.

Argentina could face sanctions following its celebration of the victory over England.
