Arsenal defeated Manchester City 3–0 in the English Super Cup match held on August 16 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. For City’s new head coach, Enzo Maresca, it was his first match in charge of the team.
The Londoners opened the scoring just 23 seconds into the game. Riccardo Calafiori found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper and scored the first goal. Later, Kai Havertz headed the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma to double Arsenal’s lead.

In the third minute of the second half, Arsenal newcomer Christos Tzolis recorded his second assist of the match, and team captain Martin Ødegaard scored the third goal.
Manchester City had several chances to score: Phil Foden and Erling Haaland forced Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya to make saves. However, Raya kept a clean sheet. As Reuters notes, Arsenal looked physically fitter and sharper than their opponents.
