The Bank of Scotland has announced the release of a limited-edition £20 banknote featuring Scotland national team midfielder Scott McTominay. The design commemorates one of his memorable goals while playing for the national team. The issue will be part of a series of commemorative banknotes dedicated to notable sporting moments and figures.

The Bank of Scotland decided to feature on the note the midfielder’s goal against the Danish national team with a bicycle kick during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. McTominay opened the scoring in that match. Scotland secured a home victory (4–2) and qualified for the World Cup.

A total of 100 commemorative banknotes will be issued. Half of them will go on sale, while another 25 will be raffled off and sold at auction. All proceeds will go to the Crisis charity, which provides assistance to Scotland’s homeless.

“An iconic goal. A decisive match. The moment that helped the Scottish national team make it to the U.S. Now it is immortalized forever on a limited-edition £20 banknote. This banknote, created in collaboration with Scott McTominay and brought to life by Scottish illustrator Katie Smith, is dedicated to a defining moment in the history of Scottish football,” the statement reads.

The midfielder moved to Italy in the summer of 2024. The Scot’s transfer cost €30.5 million.

The “Tartan Army” was drawn into Group C. There, Steve Clarke’s squad will face the national teams of Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti.

McTominay and company will play their first match against Haiti. The game is scheduled for June 13 in the Boston area.
