Bezzecchi sets Misano lap record and takes pole for San Marino Grand Prix
Italian Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi took pole position for the MotoGP San Marino Grand Prix at the Misano circuit, setting an outright lap record of 1 minute 29.982 seconds. He became the first rider to complete a lap in under 1 minute 30 seconds, TimesLIVE reports.

Marc Marquez on Ducati and Fermin Aldeguer of Gresini Racing will start from the front row alongside Bezzecchi. Marquez attempted twice to improve his result at the end of qualifying, but abandoned both fast laps. According to him, Bezzecchi has been particularly fast in high-speed corners this year, while his own task was to make the front row.
Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46 Racing posted the fourth-best result. Championship leader Jorge Martin was fifth, with Honda's Luca Marini alongside him on the second row.

Incident and contenders' positions
During the session, Bezzecchi gestured his dissatisfaction after, in his assessment, Johann Zarco of LCR Honda impeded him. The stewards said they were investigating the incident. The Italian noted that yellow flags complicated qualifying, and that he set his best time in the first run.
In the overall standings, Martin has 256 points, Marquez has 237 and Bezzecchi has 232. Pedro Acosta, Franco Morbidelli and Alex Marquez will start from the third row; Alex Marquez crashed twice during qualifying. Francesco Bagnaia, who held the previous track record, failed to progress from the first part of qualifying to the second and will start 14th.
