The daughter of figure skater Oksana Gryshchuk has accused her mother of domestic violence
Former Soviet and Russian figure skater Oksana Grishchuk has found herself at the center of a scandal following accusations made by her own daughter. The young woman has alleged instances of domestic violence by her mother.
The statement was made by the daughter of two-time Olympic ice dance champion Skyler Marie Grace Gryshchuk.
Skyler was born on August 19, 2002, in the United States. Her father is American fitness instructor Jeff, though Oksana’s relationship with him was short-lived. Oksana raised Skyler on her own.
On Sunday, July 26, Skyler Marie Grace posted a candid message on social media.
“I never imagined I’d have to share something so personal, since I’ve kept this a secret for so many years. But I have nevertheless filed a domestic violence report against my mother, Oksana Hryshchuk, following incidents of physical and emotional abuse and psychological trauma.
It was an incredibly difficult decision. If you’ve experienced abuse within your family or gone through similar situations, I’d be grateful to hear from you. Thank you to everyone who has supported me all this time,” Skyler wrote.
Hryshchuk, 54, competed in ice dancing as a partner with Yevgeny Platov. She is a two-time Olympic champion (1994, 1998), a four-time world champion, and a three-time European champion.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian 7-a-side soccer team won the European championship title for the first time in history. In the final match of the continental championship, the “blue-and-yellows” defeated the tournament hosts—the Italian team.
Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Khizhnyak scored his second victory in the professional ring.
