Oleksandr Ovcharenko won a WTT doubles tournament for the second time this season
Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandr Ovcharenko won the World Tennis Tour M25 tournament in Bacău, Romania, which had a prize purse of $30,000. This was the athlete’s second doubles title of the 2026 season.
In the final, Ovcharenko and his Italian partner, Riccardo Perin, defeated the American duo of Kabir Kapasi and Petro Kuzmenok. The match ended with a score of 6–3, 2–6, 10–5 and lasted 1 hour and 22 minutes.
On their way to the championship title, the Ukrainian-Italian pair defeated several opponents. In the first round, Ovcharenko and Perin defeated the Romanian duo of Tudor Batin and Rares Teodor Pelanu 6–1, 6–3.
In the quarterfinals, they defeated the French-Romanian pair of Yannick Teodor Alexandrescu and Dragos Nicolae Cazacu 7–6 (7–4), 6–1. In the semifinals, the Ukrainian tennis player and his partner defeated the Romanians Stefan Adrian Andreescu and George Claudiu Shintea 6-2, 6-2.
For the 24-year-old Ovcharenko, this final marked his 31st career appearance in the doubles competition at World Tennis Tour events. The Ukrainian has now won his 15th title in this category.
In the 2026 season, Ovcharenko reached the WTT doubles final for the third time and won the tournament for the second time.
