Ukrainian coach Oleg Fedorchuk has harshly criticized the work of Ukraine national team head coach Serhiy Rebrov following the team’s recent results.
According to him, the national team’s play shows no progress, and negative trends have persisted for a long time, particularly following the matches against Belgium and the team’s performance at the Euros.
Fedorchuk also criticized the coaching staff’s personnel decisions, particularly their reliance on experienced players.
“This gives me the impression that he’s, well, a little Napoleon… And he’s very confident, even cocky. And we’re seeing the result of that cockiness,” he said.
According to the coach, such an approach could lead to failure: “I think this is his final. If this final continues, it won’t be a comedy anymore; it will be a farce.”
Donetsk’s Shakhtar secured a spot in the Conference League semifinals with a 2-2 draw in the quarterfinal second leg against Dutch side AZ Alkmaar. Thanks to a convincing 3-0 victory in the first leg, the Ukrainian team advanced on aggregate, 5-2.
