Fury and Joshua had their first stare-down ahead of the fight
Former world champions Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua came face to face for the first time ahead of their upcoming bout. The British boxers engaged in a traditional stare-down following a press conference in London.
The standoff lasted over a minute and took place in a tense atmosphere, but ended with both athletes smiling.
A Friendly Conversation and a Long Stare-Down
Following the official announcement of their upcoming bout, the rivals met at a press conference in London, which took place in a surprisingly peaceful and friendly atmosphere.
In particular, Fury publicly acknowledged Joshua’s enormous contribution to British boxing and his championship legacy. In turn, Joshua recalled his historic triumph at Wembley against Wladimir Klitschko and emphasized the importance of bringing the championship titles back to Britain.
Later, the boxers engaged in a traditional stare-down that lasted over a minute. Both athletes were in high spirits and ended the duel with smiles, with Joshua even playfully nearly tickling his opponent.
The event also featured a display of the championship belt that the athletes will be competing for.
When will the fight
take place? However, friendly banter doesn’t detract from the seriousness of their intentions. Tyson Fury has already promised to put on a tough fight and knock out his opponent.
“I’ll go out there and knock him out. I’m not going to run away—I’m going to go out there and fight. I’ll catch him, and that’ll be the end of it for him,” promised the “Gypsy King.”
The long-awaited bout between the British stars will take place on December 11 in Cardiff, Wales. The winner of this bout will reclaim the world heavyweight championship title, as the prestigious WBA “super champion” title will be on the line.
