Flick hopes Yamal will play against Valencia in Spain

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick hopes winger Lamine Yamal will be able to play against Valencia in the La Liga match to be held on Sunday at Mestalla Stadium in Valencia, Spain. The footballer received a knock and felt pain, so he did not train with the team on Saturday. Asharq Al-Awsat reports.

Yamal's individual training

The 19-year-old Yamal worked individually at the training base. Flick said the final decision on the player's participation in Sunday's match would be made after speaking with him. According to the coach, the footballer will travel to Valencia with the team.

Flick explained that Yamal received a knock and felt pain, so the club decided to arrange an individual training session for him. After the session, the footballer said everything was fine, the coach added. At the same time, Barcelona's manager expressed hope that the winger would be able to play against Valencia.

Barcelona's start to the season

Yamal scored his first two goals of the season in the match against Rayo Vallecano, which Barcelona won 5:2 on Monday. The Catalan team is seeking to extend its perfect start to the championship.

Real Madrid lost 0:1 to Real Betis on Friday, so a win over Valencia would allow Barcelona to take sole possession of first place in the standings. Flick stressed that his team must focus on its own game.

Barcelona newcomer Gabriel Jesus will likely start the match on the bench. Raphinha, who plays as a centre-forward, has scored five goals in three matches, and Flick called him the best option for the position at the moment.
