Nigerian tennis player Ogunsakin reaches junior US Open main draw
At the junior US Open in the United States, 14-year-old Nigerian tennis player Oluwaseun Ogunsakin came through qualifying to reach the singles main draw. According to Premium Times Nigeria, he secured a place in the main draw after defeating the top seed in qualifying.
Qualifying victories
In the second round of qualifying, Ogunsakin defeated Canadian Felix Roussel 6:3, 6:4. Roussel was the top seed in qualifying.
In his opening qualifying match, the Nigerian beat Poland's Tymon Litwicz 6:3, 6:0. Ogunsakin thus completed qualifying with two victories without dropping a set. He represents Aurum Tennis Academy.

Third consecutive Grand Slam tournament
The junior US Open is Ogunsakin's third consecutive Grand Slam tournament. He previously made his debut at the junior Roland Garros and competed at Wimbledon, where he reached the singles main draw and made the doubles semifinals.
The junior US Open singles main draws feature 64 players each in the boys' and girls' events. The doubles events feature 32 teams in each category.
