Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa Ladies demand replay of WAFU B final

In Ghana, women’s football club Ampem Darkoa Ladies, champions of the Ghana Women’s Premier League, has filed a protest with WAFU B and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after losing the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying final to Nigeria’s Edo Queens. The team is seeking a replay of the final, MyJoyOnline reports.

Penalty shootout after a draw

Regular time in the final ended 2:2. According to the club, after the draw the teams were supposed to play another 30 minutes of extra time to determine the winner.

Instead, the match immediately went to a penalty shootout. The Ghanaian club lost it 1:4, while Edo Queens won the trophy and a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The club’s position

According to Ampem Darkoa Ladies, team representatives were preparing substitutions before the next part of the match. However, the club was given different instructions, which meant the planned substitutions did not take place.
