Penrith Panthers player Jack Cogger has been suspended for three NRL games
Jack Cogger, a midfielder for the Australian club Penrith Panthers, has been suspended for three National Rugby League (NRL) games for a high tackle on Tyrone Wishart of the Melbourne Storm, according to ABC News Australia.
The 29-year-old Cogger has been charged with a second-degree offense. The suspension means he will miss the first week of the NRL playoffs. The player can appeal the charge to the league’s disciplinary body, but if the appeal is unsuccessful, his suspension will be extended by one additional game. In that scenario, he could potentially miss the remainder of the season.
The incident occurred late in Thursday’s game against the Melbourne Storm, which the Penrith Panthers won 22–14. Cogger broke out of the defensive line and made a late tackle on Wishart, after which he was sent to the sin bin.

Earlier this season, Cogger had already missed two games due to a similar incident—after striking Ashton Ward of South Sydney. In the game against the Melbourne Storm, he also received a $3,000 fine for an incident involving forward Angus Hinch.
Kogger’s absence complicates the lineup selection for the Penrith Panthers, who are fighting for a spot in the top two of the regular season. In their next match against Canterbury, either Blaze Talagi or Jack Cole could start at halfback.
