Im Sung-jae to play for International team at Presidents Cup
South Korean golfer Im Sung-jae will play for the International team at the 2026 Presidents Cup after team captain Geoff Ogilvy selected him as a captain’s pick. The Korea Herald reports. The tournament will take place from September 24 to 27 at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois.
Three golfers from South Korea
Im Sung-jae was one of six players invited to the team by Ogilvy. They will join six athletes who qualified automatically based on their positions in the world rankings.
Three representatives of South Korea will play for the International team. Kim Si-woo and Tom Kim earned automatic spots. Kim Si-woo was ranked 13th in the world and was the highest-ranked player on the International team.

Im Sung-jae’s results
Im Sung-jae, who was ranked 57th in the world at the time the team was formed, missed the first two months of the year due to a wrist injury. After returning, he finished in the top 10 five times in 22 starts and placed in the top 15 in five of the final six tournaments of the season.
This will be Im Sung-jae’s fourth Presidents Cup. In the three previous editions — in 2019, 2022 and 2024 — he recorded six wins, seven losses and two ties.
The other captain’s picks were Canadians Corey Conners and Nick Taylor, Colombian Nico Echavarria, Japanese golfer Ryo Hisatsune, and South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout. At the Presidents Cup, the International team, which includes non-European and non-American golfers, faces the U.S. team in a match-play format. The Americans have won 13 of the previous 15 editions, the International team won only in 1998, and the 2003 tournament ended in a tie.
