Spain opened the scoring in the second minute: Lamine Yamal took advantage of a mistake by Marc Guehi, intercepted the ball and converted his chance. England equalised in the 36th minute through a counterattack finished by Anthony Gordon after a combination with Jude Bellingham. Four minutes later, Harry Kane headed in a cross from Nico O'Reilly to put the hosts ahead, 2-1.

Kane's missed penalty
At the start of the second half, the referee awarded a penalty to Spain after a VAR review for Rodri's foul on Bellingham. Kane slipped while taking the spot-kick and hit the crossbar.
In the 60th minute, Spain equalised: substitute Alex Baena scored after a mistake by O'Reilly. Mikel Oyarzabal scored the winning goal in the 74th minute after being set up by Baena's pass.

Thanks to this victory, Spain moved to the top of Nations League Group A3 and extended their unbeaten run to 39 matches. England's next match will be away against the Czech Republic on 29 September, followed by an away game against Croatia on 3 October.
