Kabayel to defend WBC title on November 28 — Channel NewsAsia

German boxer Agit Kabayel will make the first defence of his WBC heavyweight world title on November 28 in Düsseldorf, Germany. His opponent will be unbeaten Albanian Nelson Hysa, Channel NewsAsia reports.

Fight at Merkur Spiel Arena

The bout will take place at the Merkur Spiel Arena, which holds 60,000 spectators. The arena is located near Bochum, the hometown of 34-year-old Kabayel. The fight date falls on Albania’s Independence Day, so 42-year-old Hysa can also expect considerable fan support.

Contender status

Promoter Frank Warren confirmed the fight, with a presentation event scheduled for next week. DAZN is expected to broadcast the bout. Kabayel was declared WBC champion after Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt in June. Both boxers are managed by Warren’s Queensberry Promotions. Hysa is not included in the latest WBC rankings, but is ranked fifth on the WBA contender list.
