Khyzhnyak won a gold medal at a boxing tournament in Serbia
Paris 2024 Olympic champion Oleksandr Khyzhniak made a triumphant return to the international stage by winning a gold medal at the prestigious Belgrade Winner Tournament in Serbia.
This event marked the 30-year-old Ukrainian boxer’s first appearance with the national team following his spectacular success at the Olympic Games and his subsequent debut in the professional ring.
In addition to the main title of the competition, the talented athlete received a special award as the most technical boxer of the entire tournament.
On his way to the gold medal in the 80-kilogram weight class, Oleksandr Khyzhniak delivered a series of uncompromising fights.
In the preliminary rounds, he confidently defeated the strong Kazakhstani representative Nursultan Shilderbay, and also defeated Emre Parlak of Turkey by early knockout.
In the final bout, the Ukrainian faced another Turkish boxer, Mert Aybugu.
From the very first seconds of the decisive bout, Khizhnyak imposed his trademark frenzied pace, aggressive pressure, and constant pressure on his opponent.
By completely dominating the center of the ring and fighting at a high intensity, he literally deprived Aybugu of any room to maneuver or counterattack.
After three rounds, the judges unanimously awarded a well-deserved victory to the Ukrainian representative.
Overall, the Ukrainian national boxing team delivered a very strong performance in Belgrade, winning a total of 10 medals of various ranks.
