Keely Hodgkinson wins 800 metres at Athlos in London — Sky Sports News
British track and field athlete Keely Hodgkinson won the 800-metre race at the women’s Athlos competition in London, United Kingdom. In her final start of the 2026 season, she recorded a time of 1 minute 56.40 seconds and defended her tournament title.
As Sky Sports News reports, the 24-year-old athlete took to the track in a new black full-body Nike racing suit with a hood. Her rivals this season, Switzerland’s Audrey Werro and the Netherlands’ Femke Bol, did not take part in the start at London’s StoneX Stadium.
Health problems
Over the past two months, Hodgkinson has had problems due to illness and injury. This week, she said that an MRI scan had revealed an abnormality in the area of the back of her thigh.

The track and field athlete also said that she suffered a tear in one of her tendons at the European Championships in Birmingham but continued running. According to her, instead of one tendon, she has two that are separated. Hodgkinson has not missed training during the past three weeks, but she changed her approach to preparation and reduced speed work, as it carries the greatest risk.
Fight for the record
In February, Hodgkinson set the world indoor record in the 800 metres. She also sought to surpass the outdoor record of 1 minute 53.28 seconds, set by Jarmila Kratochvílová in 1983. At the same time, Werro beat the British athlete at the European Championships and the Ultimate Championships this year.
Athlos is a women-only track and field competition launched last year by Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian, the husband of 23-time Grand Slam tennis tournament winner Serena Williams. After the London start, Hodgkinson plans to take a break before returning to competition next year.
