In Côte d'Ivoire, Nigeria defeated Ghana 4:2 in a match at the 2026 WAFU B Girls' U-17 Cup. Nigeria's team, known as the Flamingos, secured their second consecutive victory at the tournament, Premium Times Nigeria reports.

Match progress

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, while captain Harmony Chidi doubled Nigeria's lead in first-half stoppage time. In the 59th minute, Elizabeth Adesuyi was sent off, so the Nigerian team finished the match with 10 players.

Ghana captain Seidatu Wahab reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute. Eight minutes later, Mary Danstan restored Nigeria's two-goal advantage. Kaosarat Akanji scored the fourth goal in the 87th minute, while Gloria Ameah set the final score in the 90th minute.

Tournament start

Three days earlier, Nigeria thrashed Niger 5:0 in their opening match. Harmony Chidi, Awawu Bashiru, Ohunene Sunday, Mary Danstan and Ayumide Rotimi scored the goals. The Flamingos have scored nine goals in two matches.

After Benin's national team withdrew, the competition was switched to a round-robin format. The WAFU B Cup features Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Togo, Niger and hosts Côte d'Ivoire. The tournament is also part of Nigeria's preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.
