Coco Gauff reaches US Open semifinals in the US after saving two match points
American tennis player Coco Gauff in New York, US, saved two match points in her match against Russia's Mirra Andreeva and reached the US Open semifinals. In the quarterfinals, the 2023 tournament winner defeated fifth seed Andreeva 2:6, 7:6 (9:7), 6:2, Channel NewsAsia reports.
Poor start and tiebreak
At the start of the match, Andreeva won the first four games. Gauff did not create a single break point in the opening set, in which the Russian made five unforced errors, while the American made 14.
In the second set, the players exchanged breaks twice, and the set ended in a tiebreak. Gauff won a 39-shot rally thanks to an accurate backhand and saved two match points.

Semifinal opponent
In the deciding set, Andreeva lost her serve in the third game. After that, Gauff made another break to love in the seventh game and sealed the match with a forehand.
In the US Open semifinals, Gauff will play second seed Elena Rybakina.
