A three-driver Ghanaian team will compete at the Karting Africa Showrun in Benguela, Angola, in October. According to MyJoyOnline, the competition will take place on October 10 and 11, 2026, and will mark Ghana's first appearance on the international motorsport stage.

Team lineup

The team includes senior-category driver Jihad Armand, as well as young drivers 11-year-old Chloe Kusi-Asoma and 9-year-old Ezra Stevens. Armand trained at the WORR Motorsport academy in South Africa, while the two younger participants have been interested in karting from an early age.

The delegation is led by Auto Racing Ghana President Samuel Moses Opoku-Agyemang. Before the trip, team representatives met in Accra with Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director General of Ghana's National Sports Authority. He noted the team's preparation despite limited resources and promised the authority's support after Auto Racing Ghana's registration process is completed.

Continental plans

The Karting Africa Showrun is expected to bring together 39 drivers from across the African continent. Officials from the International Automobile Federation and representatives of Africa's national motorsport bodies are also expected at the event.

The event is intended to serve as a preliminary event ahead of the Karting Africa Cup, which is planned to be held in five African countries in 2027. Ghana is expected to host the Karting Africa Showrun that same year.

Auto Racing Ghana said it is working to establish FIA-standard tracks in Ghana for karting, road car clubs and driver training. The STEM Racing Ghana program is expected to cover more than 100 schools and 10,000 students. The team's trip to Angola is funded by Engineers & Planners, with support also provided by Imperial General Assurance, ASKY Airlines and Starbites.
