South Korea reach women’s volleyball semifinals — Korea Herald
South Korea’s women’s volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan, defeating Kazakhstan in three sets. The quarterfinal match in Komaki, Japan, ended 3-0 — 26:24, 27:25, 25:21, Korea Herald reports.
Two tight sets
The first two sets went to extra points. In the opening set, the Korean team trailed 22:23, but moved ahead 25:24 after blocks by setter Kim Da-in. Captain Kang So-hwi finished the set with an attacking hit — 26:24.
In the second set, South Korea reached set point first at 24:23 but allowed their opponents to score two consecutive points. Yuk So-yeon responded with an attack and an ace, giving her team a 27:25 win and a 2-0 set lead.

Attack leader and next opponent
Yuk So-yeon was the match’s top scorer with 20 points, including one block and two aces. Jeong Ho-young recorded 10 points, while Lee Da-hyeon had nine.
In the third set, the Korean team extended its lead to four points after reaching the 20-point mark and saw out the match for victory. In the semifinal, scheduled for Monday at the same venue, South Korea will face the winner of the Japan–Chinese Taipei match. For the Korean national team, this is its first appearance in the Asian Games women’s volleyball semifinals in eight years, since the 2018 competition in Indonesia.
