Polissya's foreign player will continue his career in the Mexican league
"Polissya" has released its Venezuelan forward, Luyfer Hernandez, to the Mexican club "Puebla," effectively bringing his unsuccessful stint with the Zhytomyr-based club to an end. The player is changing continents and will continue his career overseas, where he is expected to bolster the attack.
Venezuelan forward Luifer Hernandez is leaving Zhytomyr’s Polissya and moving to Mexico’s Puebla, swapping the Ukrainian league for Latin America, where he will attempt to restart his career after a difficult period in the UPL. The club has officially confirmed the transfer, though the details of the deal have not yet been disclosed, and the move itself appears to be another step in a series of loans and rotations that have accompanied his contract with the Ukrainian team.
Reportedly, the parties have not yet disclosed either the transfer fee or the duration of the deal, but according to specialized sources, the player may have joined Puebla on a loan deal, as he has previously been sent on temporary transfers to other clubs. Cúcuta Deportivo had loaned Hernández earlier this year, but he will likely continue the season in Mexico, where he is expected to bolster the attacking line.
The forward’s contract with Polissya runs until the summer of 2028, and his move to Ukraine in 2024 was valued at approximately €1 million, underscoring the club’s confidence in the young foreign player. However, he failed to establish himself in the Ukrainian league: for Polissya, he played 20 matches across all competitions and scored five goals, which ultimately did not convince the coaching staff to make him a key figure in the attack.
During his time in Zhytomyr, Hernandez repeatedly moved between teams on loan, which effectively turned his Ukrainian stint into a constant search for consistent playing time and a spot in the lineup. Now his new challenge will be the Mexican league, where he will try to prove his effectiveness and relaunch his career in a different football environment. This was reported on the club’s official website.
