French swimmer Léon Marchand won the 200-meter butterfly final at the European Swimming Championships, which took place in Paris on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Marchand completed the race in 1 minute and 51.72 seconds. According to France 24, this is the world’s fastest time of the year in this event. The victory earned him his first European swimming title.

Second place went to Hungary’s Richard Marton, who finished in 1 minute 54.06 seconds. Third place went to Apostolos Siskos of Greece with a time of 1 minute 54.13 seconds. He finished 2.34 seconds behind Marton and 2.41 seconds behind Siskos.
