Dragon boat racing tournament in Shanghai brings together teams from 14 countries and regions
The 15th Shanghai World Chinese Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament was held in Shanghai, China. Twenty teams and more than 400 athletes from 14 countries and regions took part in the competition, which was held from September 10 to 14 in Qingpu District, ECNS reports.
Distances and results
The teams competed in 200- and 400-meter straight-line races. Each mixed crew consisted of 12 paddlers.
Argentina Dragon Boat Team took first place in the overall standings. France's PPFD came second, while the Austrian Dragon Boat Racing Association took third place.

Cultural program
The tournament was established in 2009 as an international competition primarily aimed at members of Chinese communities abroad.
A water sports and cultural exchange event for young people from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as representatives of Chinese communities abroad, was held in parallel. Nine teams from Taiwan and the Yangtze River Delta region took part in friendly races.
The program also combined dragon boat racing with tourism, shopping and cultural performances, and showcased cultural elements from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
